These are 50 minute presentations to whole year groups or Key Stages (up to 100 pupils) which explore aspects of the National Curriculum for Music in a lively and practical way, with good opportunities for pupil participation. Cost per workshop is £ 75 (academic year '09-'10).

for Key Stage 1 choose from...    
 

Music & Nature:   A musical journey through the natural world, exploring the ways in which animals, the seasongs and the environment can be expressed through music.

Music & Feelings:   An exploration of how and why we respond in different ways to music, and how composers have managed to achieve this. A wide range of music, with plenty of pupil participation, enables pupils to reflect and appraise.

Music & Science:   A musical laboratory of sounds, exploring the science behind a range of familiar and intriguing instruments. Good opportunities for participation using sticks, stones, tubes, bells, water bottles and more !

for Key Stage 2 choose from...    
 

Junior Djembes:   A loud, lively, fully inclusive drumming experience for groups of 16 KS2 pupils, exploring djembe drumming technique and rhythmic patterns on authentic instruments. No music reading skills required - and focused on working and performing together. READ MORE DETAILS about this new music workshop - HERE !

Music & Words:   One of our most popular music workshops ! With links to literacy, this workshop explores ways in which words have shaped all kinds of music - from rhythms to poetry; folk and nonsense songs !

Music Around The World:  A whistle- stop tour around the southern hemisphere, exploring traditional musical genres and instruments from other cultures. Introduces pentatonic, gamelan, call & response, tala and calypso.

Music & Numbers:   An exploration of how numbers and music are interlinked, with examples taken across a wide range of musical styles - from Indian tala to the blues; vocal rounds to Rock Around the Clock !

Music & Science:  A musical laboratory of sounds, exploring the science behind a range of familiar and intriguing instruments. Good opportunities for participation using sticks, stones, tubes, bells, water bottles and more !  Differentiated for KS2 (developed from the KS1 version of this workshop).

Sing Out Loud !:  A lively group singing session for all pupils, intended to make singing easy, interesting and fun - no music reading required ! Repertoire includes rounds, part songs and folk songs from around the world - all matched to your pupils' age and ability. This music workshop can be extended to include a recording session for the production of a school CD.
